The Barbell Bench Press is one of the first exercises most clients want to learn, but learning to perform it correctly is absolutely critical. To perform the bench press
- Begin by lying under the bench press apparatus and grasping the bar with an even grip.
- Un-rack the bar and position above your chest.
- Slowly lower the bar under control in a slight arc, touch the bar to your chest, and then press the bar back up in an arc to the beginning position.
- Use a 2-second count on both the eccentric and concentric portion of the lift.
